MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAMME
VISITING PLACES OF MUSICAL IMPORTANCE - Musical Homage to Saint Thyagaraja

As part of the Academic initiative of the Higher Education Department, 29 meritorious students and 8 teachers from the faculty of Music visited places of Musical Importance in Tanjavur and near by Districts.The students and teachers attended the 166th Thyagaraja Aaradhana at THIRUVAIARU ( Tanjore Dist.) on 31.1.2013 and performed the PANCHARATHNA KRITIS and paid Musical Homage to Sathguru Saint Thyagaraja on his 166th Thyagaraja Aaradhana.  The delegation also visited THIRUVARUR the birth place of MUSICAL TRINITY and the NAVAGRAHA Temples of Musical importance. The visit to CHIDAMBARAM , SRIRANGAM ,KUMBAKONAM , THIRUNALLAR provided more information on the Musical achievements and contribution to South Indian Classical Music tradition. Sri.T.N.GOVINDAN NAMBOORY , Assistant Professor in Vocal and Co-ordinator of the Music Education programme assisted by Sri.G.SANTHOSH KUMAR(Lecturer in Mridangam) Sri. K.S.Anantharaman( Lecturer in Vocal ) Mrs.ANJALI MOHAN ( Guest Lecturer in Vocal)Smt.M.RUGMONI ( Lecturer in Violin) Smt.N.PARVATHY AMMAL         ( Assistant Professor in Violin) Smt.L.S.SHEELAVATHY ( Lecturer in Veena). Sri. ANCHAL ANEESH,  a faculty members from the Applied Art department documented the whole proceedings of the Music education Programme.
